The crash occurred on July 26 when a single-engine Pilatus PC-12 struck remote terrain about 12 miles northeast of Recluse, shortly after noon. The aircraft had departed from Nebraska City Municipal Airport.
Pilot's Report
Pilot Larry Haynie reported losing autopilot control to the Salt Lake City Air Route Traffic Control Center. He declared an emergency while attempting to regain control, but communications ceased before the crash.

The National Transportation Safety Board's preliminary report indicated that flight data showed erratic maneuvers, including a 270-degree right turn followed by a 180-degree turn before descending rapidly.
