Tiffany Henyard, the mayor of Dolton, is facing scrutiny over her management of village finances while passionately confronting the Thornton Township Board regarding their spending practices.
Confrontation at the Board Meeting
During a recent board meeting, Tiffany Henyard expressed frustration towards her colleagues, stating that their lack of initiative is hindering progress. She emphasized that the trustees have been uncooperative, blocking proposals from her administration without offering viable alternatives.
Investigation into Mismanagement
Henyard is currently under investigation for her handling of village finances. The investigation led by former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot revealed that the Dolton Village General Fund is significantly in the red, with a negative balance of $3.65 million.
FBI Probe
In addition to the local investigation, the FBI is also conducting inquiries related to financial operations at Dolton Village Hall. Although details are scant, Henyard may be required to cooperate with federal investigators should they reach out regarding the financial discrepancies.
