Neverending negotiations, protracted talks, and a ceaseless daily batch of rumours have been the hallmarks of a hectic summer transfer window: Stephen Kasiewicz looks to five summer signings to watch in Serie A this season.
Douglas Luiz (Juventus)
Juventus made a significant investment by signing Brazilian international Douglas Luiz for €50m, which was adjusted to around €28m due to players leaving for the English Premier League. Luiz comes off an impressive season scoring nine league goals, bolstering Juventus’s revamped midfield.
Matias Soule (Roma)
Matias Soule joined AS Roma from Juventus after an outstanding breakout season at Frosinone, where he scored 11 Serie A goals. The left-footed attacker is expected to contribute significantly to Roma's Champions League ambitions.
Mehdi Taremi (Inter)
Inter secured the services of Iranian international Mehdi Taremi on a free transfer. Taremi adds depth and experience to Inter's already strong attacking lineup, though he will have to compete for playing time behind Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.
Alessandro Buongiorno (Napoli)
Napoli signed Alessandro Buongiorno for €35 million to rectify past defensive issues. Buongiorno is expected to bring defensive solidity as Napoli aims for a top four finish following last season’s struggles.
Alvaro Morata (Milan)
Milan welcomed Alvaro Morata back to Serie A with a €13m transfer after his time at Atletico Madrid. Morata's experience and strategic understanding of the game will be key as he partners with Milan's creative forces, Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic.
