No one was injured when a small plane made an emergency landing on Interstate 64 in Mount Vernon Friday morning.
Incident Overview
The pilot landed the plane but then crashed into the guardrail on the side of the highway near mile marker 80. The landing occurred on the westbound lane of I-64 due to mechanical issues.
No Injuries Reported
According to Trooper Haylie Polistina with the Illinois State Police, no injuries were reported in connection with the crash although it did cause a temporary traffic backup.
Traffic Conditions
While the crash caused some delays initially, authorities confirmed that traffic has since returned to normal.
