Julia Saxon of BeeGraphix explains how she used ChatGPT, Midjourney and other generative AI tools to create a mini-merch collection for Branding Together, the joint podcast hosted by ASI and PRINTING United Alliance editors.
Initial Concept Development with AI
Julia Saxon utilized ChatGPT to summarize the project scope for the Branding Together podcast merch, generating a creative roadmap with three design concepts. The 'Sound Waves of Collaboration' concept, visualizing CMYK sound waves, was chosen for its alignment with the podcast's essence and the print industry.
Bringing the Vision to Life
Using Midjourney with a detailed ChatGPT-generated prompt, Julia created glowing CMYK sound wave patterns. The image was upscaled with Topaz Gigapixel AI, then processed in Photoshop to remove the background and halftone the image, making it production-ready and soft for dark garments. She also inverted and reworked the Branding Together and PRINTING United Alliance logos, adding a glowing 3-D effect for visual cohesion.
Design 1: The Pulse of Collaboration
The first design dynamically expressed energy with neon CMYK sound waves moving in rhythm with the glowing logo, visually representing the 'Branding Together' message of creativity amplified through collaboration.
Design 2: A Fun, Energetic Remix
For the second design, Julia reimagined the core elements into a more playful, bold, uplifting, and energetic graphic, inspired by a Kittl layout. This design aimed to stand alone while still communicating the same brand story.
Design 3: The Icon of Unity
The third design aimed to fuse both logos into a single iconic mark while maintaining the CMYK theme. After initial attempts with Google Gemini, Julia refined the logo form in CorelDRAW and then used Nano Banana to simulate a chenille patch look, which was subsequently upscaled and prepared for print.
From Concept to Creation
The process culminated in the satisfaction of seeing the digital designs transform into tangible garments. The textures, glow, and color energy effectively came to life during production, serving as a physical manifestation of the collaborative project.
