Today’s Students Tomorrow’s Teachers (TSTT) recently announced the successful participation of 10 students from Peekskill City School District in Pace University’s innovative Camp CryptoBot. Held from July 27–31 on the University’s Pleasantville Campus, this intensive five-day summer program was designed to immerse students in the dynamic and rapidly evolving fields of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, coding, and cryptography. The camp aimed to cultivate crucial skills such as innovation, creativity, collaborative teamwork, and advanced problem-solving, equipping these aspiring young minds with a foundational understanding of future technologies and their applications.
Immersive Learning Experience at Camp CryptoBot
Led by Dr. Pauline Mosley, a Professor of Computer Science at Pace University’s Seidenberg School and Director of the Seidenberg Creative Labs, Camp CryptoBot offered a rich curriculum. Students actively engaged in diverse, hands-on activities that pushed them to develop critical thinking and technical skills. The program's core objective was to expose them to the rapidly expanding career opportunities within STEM fields, particularly focusing on the interdisciplinary nature of computer science and information systems. A significant highlight of the camp was the direct interaction students had with Pepper the Robot, Pace University’s advanced humanoid social robot. Alongside Pace Professor Lisa Ellrodt, Pepper demonstrated the transformative power of robotics and artificial intelligence across various sectors, including education, healthcare, business, and daily life. Students enthusiastically engaged with Pepper, posing questions and experiencing firsthand how AI-powered technologies are fundamentally reshaping the future. During her guest speaking engagement at the camp, Dr. Bettye H. Perkins, the esteemed Founder and CEO of Today’s Students Tomorrow’s Teachers (TSTT), delivered a powerful message underscoring the indispensable nature of STEM education.
