Trimble adds AI tools to MEP estimating software

Trimble has recently introduced advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities into its mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) estimating software. These innovative features are specifically engineered to streamline the pre-takeoff setup phase and automate the recognition of objects directly from complex construction drawings. Preliminary data collected in 2026 from contractors who have utilized these new tools indicates a significant reduction—up to 60%—in the manual time traditionally required for these tasks. This efficiency gain empowers users to manage and complete a higher volume of bids without the necessity of expanding their existing staff. The rollout of these new functionalities, which include automated symbol counts and precise conduit measurement, is currently available to customers in both North America and the United Kingdom. A key component of these enhancements is the AI Smart Assistant, integrated within the Trimble Accubid Anywhere software. This assistant, powered by Trimble’s cutting-edge agentic AI platform, allows users to interact with vast datasets using natural language queries, facilitating tasks such as historical material pricing analysis and detailed comparisons between different estimate versions. This strategic integration of AI is part of Trimble’s broader initiative to embed AI features across its entire construction software portfolio, aiming to enhance data accessibility and optimize overall workflow management for the construction industry.
