Pirelli and Univrses have signed an agreement to integrate the Swedish deep tech specialist’s AI‑based computer vision 3DAI technologies into Pirelli’s Cyber Tyre system, with Pirelli also acquiring a 30% stake in Univrses. This collaboration aims to enhance vehicle safety, ADAS, and autonomous driving systems, while also providing valuable data for road infrastructure management.
Pirelli and Univrses Collaborate for Safer, Smarter Vehicles and Roads
Pirelli and Univrses have announced a strategic partnership for the integration of Univrses’s AI-based computer vision 3DAI technologies into Pirelli’s Cyber Tyre platform, accompanied by Pirelli's acquisition of a 30% stake in Univrses. This collaboration is designed to create safer and more performant vehicles with enhanced ADAS and autonomous driving capabilities. Beyond vehicle performance, the system will generate timely and actionable data for road management authorities, enabling better decision-making, more effective resource deployment, and a potential reduction in road accidents and fatalities. The core technology leverages data collected by onboard cameras and specialized tires, processed by Pirelli's proprietary software and algorithms, to provide real-time insights into road conditions and vehicle dynamics. Univrses has adapted its 3DAI solution, initially developed for vehicle perception, for AI-based road monitoring, capable of digitizing city and roadside infrastructure and offering 3D positioning, mapping, and spatial deep learning for autonomous driving. A significant pilot project was launched in 2025 with the Puglia Region in Italy, utilizing this integrated system to monitor and map the condition of regional road networks. Both Andrea Casaluci, Pirelli's CEO, and Jonathan Selbie, Univrses’s CEO, highlighted the partnership's importance in advancing the transformation of cars into software-defined vehicles and providing advanced data-driven services for infrastructure asset management.
